Polish farmers to suspend protest at Ukraine border crossing from January 6

Minister of Agriculture Czesław Siekierski and the protesters of the Podkarpackie Deceived Village have signed an agreement to lift the blockade.

Siekierski announced this on his social media accounts.

 "Upon signing the agreement, the protest at the border crossing in Medyka is suspended," a member of the Polish Sejm, Marek Rząsa commented on the agreement.

The government pledged to fulfil all the farmers' demands:

- PLN 1 billion in corn subsidies;

- increase in loans to save farms;

- cancellation of the tax increase in 2024.

It will be recalled that on January 4, Polish farmers resumed blocking the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint after a short break.

Polish carriers have continued to block checkpoints on the Polish-Ukrainian border since November 6.

On December 18, Polish carriers resumed their protest at the Dorohusk-Yagodyn border crossing with Ukraine, which may last until March 8, 2024. The action was suspended at the request of the mayor of Dorohusk, Wojciech Sawa.
