The renewed protest of Polish carriers at the Dorohusk border crossing point with Ukraine may last until March 8, 2024
Polish carriers have announced a new protest action at the Dorohusk — Yagodyn border crossing with Ukraine, which will begin on December 18.
The Polish media outlet RMF 24 reported this.
One of the protest's leaders, Paweł Ozygała, confirms that the protest will resume on December 18 and may last until March 8, 2024.
Earlier, the District Court of Lublin cancelled the mayor's ban on protests at the Yagodyn — Dorogusk crossing.
On December 16, the third Ukrainian driver died while waiting to cross the Polish-Ukrainian border. The man became ill and died on the way to hospital.
The spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko, said that as of the morning of December 17, more than two thousand Ukrainian trucks were waiting in the queue to cross the border into Poland.
It will be recalled that Polish carriers began protesting at checkpoints on the Polish-Ukrainian border on November 6, 2023. Later, Polish farmers joined them.
One of the protesters' demands is cancelling the so-called "transport visa-free regime for Ukrainian drivers". The European Commission opposes this decision.
