Romania investigates another possible airspace violation

The Romanian authorities are investigating another case of possible airspace violation due to the Russian shelling of Ukraine.

On the evening of September 29, residents of Galați and Tulcea received notifications urging them to take shelter in safe places because of a possible "fall of objects." A resident of the Galați suburbs told police that he had heard explosions.

The country's Ministry of Defence confirmed that a radar surveillance system had indicated a possible unauthorised intrusion into the airspace, with the signal detected on the way to Galați.

Investigators are currently searching for the remains of the object that may have fallen on the outskirts of the city.

This is not the first such incident. For the first time, a Russian drone crashed and detonated in Romania on September 4. 

The Romanian side initially denied this fact but eventually acknowledged the crash of the Russian drone.

On September 9, the wreckage of another Russian drone was found near the town of Plauru. Then, the wreckage of the drone was found after the Russian attack on the ports of Odesa on the night of September 13.
