Polish Prime Minister Tusk arrives in Ukraine on first working visit

Kyiv, Ukraine (Svidomi) — Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, the Office of the President of Poland reports

This is Tusk's first visit to Ukraine since his appointment on 11 December 2023. Before his arrival, Tusk met with Polish President Andrzej Duda to discuss the details of the visit.

"The situation in Ukraine and on the frontline is the number one issue for both of us, as the president has been very actively involved. This is a matter of Polish security,"

Donald Tusk said in a commentary to the Polish TVN24.

The Polish prime minister also stated that he would be "ashamed" to talk about a blockade on the border, given the situation in which the Ukrainian president and the whole of Ukraine are currently living. He also considered it wrong to "go to Kyiv and devote the entire visit to Polish transport issues".

It will be recalled that since November 6, 2023, a protest action of Polish carriers has been going on at the Polish-Ukrainian border.

The protesters keep trucks from crossing and, among other things, demand the cancellation of the so-called "transport visa-free regime" for Ukrainian drivers and the tightening of the European Conference of Transport Ministers' transport rules for foreign carriers.
