Egypt criticises Russia's withdrawal from Black Sea Initiative, says it will continue to import Ukrainian grain nonetheless — Bloomberg
Egypt's Minister of Supply Ali El-Mosilhy criticised Russia's withdrawal from the Black Sea Initiative and said Egypt would continue to import Ukrainian grain anyway.
Bloomberg reported this.
"We are not pleased with the Russian withdrawal from the UN grain-export deal," El-Mosilhy said. The Minister called on Moscow to reconsider its position.
Egypt's economy has suffered due to rising grain prices after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
It will be recalled that on July 17, Russia announced its withdrawal from the grain deal. This was immediately condemned by the US, EU, NATO, and the UN, among others. Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent letters to Turkish President Erdoğan and UN Secretary-General Guterres with a proposal to extend the agreement in a trilateral format.
