President Aliyev: Azerbaijan has achieved all goals of the operation in Nagorno-Karabakh and restored its sovereignty in one day

The President of Azerbaijan stated that he had achieved all the goals of the operation in Nagorno-Karabakh. In his words, Azerbaijan's sovereignty has been restored.

Ilham Aliyev said this in a video address, the Azerbaijani State News Agency reports.

Aliyev added that the process of withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from Karabakh had already begun.

On the morning of September 20, it became known that the authorities of unrecognised Nagorno-Karabakh decided to declare a ceasefire. At 13:00 on the same day, the ceasefire came into effect.

"This morning we were informed that our conditions were accepted. In addition, representatives of the Armenian community living in Karabakh ... are ready to meet with us ... in the city of Yevlakh," Ilham Aliyev said.

The meeting will take place on September 21.

Some residents of Nagorno-Karabakh went to the airport to evacuate.

It will be recalled that on September 19, Azerbaijan announced "local anti-terrorist measures" in Nagorno-Karabakh, demanding the complete withdrawal of the Armenian Armed Forces from the region.

Armenia called the operation "ethnic cleansing" against Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh.
