Nearly 85,000 refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh arrive in Armenia
The spokeswoman for Armenian Prime Minister Nazeli Baghdasaryan says that almost 85,000 refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh have arrived in Armenia.
This was reported by the RFE/RL's Echo of the Caucasus.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called the forced departure of Armenians from the region "national cleansing" and "deportation".
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry condemned such statements, saying they undermine "possible prospects for peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia."
Earlier, representatives of Azerbaijan met with Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh to discuss the reintegration of the region's population.
It will be recalled that on September 19, Azerbaijan announced "local anti-terrorist measures" in Nagorno-Karabakh. The next day, President Aliyev said that Azerbaijan had restored its sovereignty in the region.
Later, the leader of Nagorno-Karabakh signed a decree on the termination of the Republic's existence from January 1, 2023.
