Hungary agrees to impose a national embargo on Ukrainian grain imports with Romania, Slovakia, and Bulgaria

Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, and Bulgaria have agreed to impose a national ban on imports of Ukrainian grain if the EU does not extend the embargo after September 15.

Hungarian Minister of Agriculture István Nagy made the announcement on his Facebook page.

The EU imposed restrictive measures on the sale of Ukrainian grain in five countries in May 2023. 

Nagy added that "the national ban will cover a wider range of Ukrainian products than the current one."

It will be recalled that Poland adopted a resolution to extend the ban on Ukrainian grain imports and sent an ultimatum to the EU.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that Ukraine would turn to the WTO if Poland blocks Ukrainian grain exports.
