The Hungarian Road Transport Association (MKFE) has announced a demonstration at the Záhony-Chop border crossing point beginning on December 11.
This was announced in a statement published on the Association's website.
The Association demands revising the agreement and returning the quotas for Ukrainian-Hungarian traffic. The police have already approved the demonstration.
"We advocate effective and intensive official control of Ukrainian carriers and their vehicles, as well as domestic loading and unloading points, to screen out unauthorised activities," the statement said.
The carriers added that they have consistently protested against the agreement between the EU and Ukraine, which granted the so-called "transport visa-free regime". The Hungarians, in particular, sent a letter to the president and transport commissioners of the European Commission.
State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andriy Demchenko said that the Hungarians would not block the border as Poland did.
"Hungary has reported that a demonstration by their carriers may begin on December 11 at around 11:00, but according to Hungarian colleagues, there should be no blocking of the border," Demchenko said on the national TV marathon.
The European Commission opposes the return of the so-called "transport permits" for Ukrainian drivers, as demanded by Polish protesters blocking the Ukrainian-Polish border.
It will be recalled that on December 9, MEPs called on Polish President Duda to take immediate measures to stop the ongoing blockade of the Polish-Ukrainian border.
