Financial Times: Hungary blocks EU's latest round of Russia sanctions
Brussels, Belgium (Svidomi) — Hungary has repeatedly blocked the EU's sanctions package against Russia, the Financial Times reports, citing its own sources.
The package includes restrictive measures for 200 individuals and organisations from Russia, China and other countries that support Moscow in its war against Ukraine.
One of the officials who spoke to journalists says that Hungary does not agree with the new sanctions because of the Chinese companies on the list. According to another interlocutor, the Hungarian ambassador "is asking for a little more time to analyse the content of the proposal".
The 13th package of sanctions is expected to be adopted on February 19. The content of the restrictive measures may change. According to media reports, the package may include sanctions against North Korea for missiles it supplies to Russia.
It will be recalled that all 27 EU countries have agreed on a four-year, €50bn aid package for Ukraine, which had long been blocked by Hungary.
