Czech Republic raises funds to buy 800,000 artillery shells for Ukraine
Prague, Czech Republic (Svidomi) — The Czech Republic has raised the necessary amount to purchase 800,000 artillery shells for Ukraine, the ČTK website reports.
President of the country Petr Pavel said this during his visit to the Central Bohemian region.
According to the Czech president, 18 countries have joined Prague's initiative. Pavel refused to disclose the amount of money received from individual countries.
"It would probably be unfair to those countries that have contributed if we did not discuss it with them. Now everything will depend on the skills of our companies and the Ministry of Defence to speed up the whole process," the Czech president said.
On March 7, Norway made the final payment to raise the required amount. According to Reuters, Norway has allocated $153 million for the procurement of ammunition.
It will be recalled that at the last Munich Conference, Czech President Petr Pavel said that the Czech Republic, in cooperation with Canada and Denmark, had found 500,000 155mm ammunition and 300,000 122mm shells that could be delivered within a few weeks.
Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Lithuania and others have allocated funds for this procurement.
