Biden and Trump win in almost all states in the US Super Tuesday primaries
Washington, USA (Svidomi) — US President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump won almost all states on Super Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.
On March 5, 15 states and one US territory held primary party elections, after which the two main US parties — Democrats and Republicans — will decide on their presidential candidates for the elections scheduled for November 2024.
According to the Associated Press, former Republican President Donald Trump already has 797 votes out of the 1215 delegates needed. Joe Biden is leading in the Democratic Party primaries with 882 votes out of the 1968 required to be nominated.
The vote count is still ongoing. Biden has no rivals in the Democratic Party. Trump's main rival, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, receives 69 delegate votes in the primaries. It seems that in November 2024 we will see the same confrontation as in 2020. Americans will choose between Joe Biden and Donald Trump as their president.
After the key results of the primaries became known, Joe Biden issued a statement.
"Tonight's results leave the American people with a clear choice: Are we going to keep moving forward, or will we allow Donald Trump to drag us backwards into the chaos, division, and darkness that defined his term in office?" the current US president said.
Donald Trump delivered a speech at his Mar-a-Lago residence. He stated that "the world will see fewer wars if he becomes president" and promised Americans economic improvements upon his return to office.
"This has been a day that we've been waiting for," Donald Trump said in a speech to his supporters.
Trump's main rival, Nikki Haley, won one of the 15 states, Vermont, on Super Tuesday. After the results of the primaries, she stated that "some Republicans continue to seek an alternative to Trump".
"In state after state, there remains a large block of Republican primary voters who are expressing deep concerns about Donald Trump. That is not the unity our party needs for success. Addressing those voters' concerns will make the Republican Party and America better," the former South Carolina governor said in a statement.
It will be recalled that on March 4, the US Supreme Court allowed Donald Trump to run for president, overturning the decision of the Colorado Supreme Court, which had deprived Trump of this right due to his involvement in the Capitol attack.
