Zelenskyy: We have received signals that the wording without Ukraine is being discussed
The President of Ukraine reacted to the ongoing negotiations at the NATO summit in Vilnius on the possibility of Ukraine joining the Alliance.
"I want to emphasise: this wording is only about an invitation, not about Ukraine's membership," the President said.
Zelenskyy called it unprecedented and absurd that there is no timeframe for both the invitation and Ukraine's membership in the Alliance.
"Instead, some strange wording is added about the 'conditions' for inviting Ukraine," he said.
It looks like there is no readiness to invite Ukraine to NATO or to make it a member, the president believes.
"This means that there is still an opportunity to bargain for Ukraine's membership in NATO - in negotiations with Russia. And for Russia, this means the motivation to continue its terror.
Uncertainty is a weakness.
And I will discuss this openly at the summit," Volodymyr Zelenskyy added.
