Yusov: Number of Russian military willing to surrender to Ukraine increases by 70%

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reports that the number of Russian military personnel willing to surrender to Ukraine has increased by 70%.

This was stated by Andrii Yusov, a spokesman for the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

The reason for this was the successful special operation Synytsia (Titmouse) by the Ukrainian special services, during which Russian pilot Maksim Kuzminov drove a Russian Mi-8 helicopter to Ukraine.

"There is a big jump in the 'I want to live' line separately and through other communication channels. After the successful operation Synytsia with the Mi-8 and the pilot, for example, the number of Russian army servicemen who are considering a similar scenario has increased," he said.

It will be recalled that the Russian pilot who hijacked the Mi-8 helicopter contacted Ukrainian intelligence on his own and provided his coordinates. Intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov said that the helicopter was in Kyiv and called the operation "one of the best conducted by his agency in the history of Ukraine."

Recently, the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, Alice Gill, stated that Russian prisoners of war were satisfied with the treatment they received in Ukrainian detention centres, and some were surprised.
