Berlin, Germany (Svidomi) — The leaders of Germany, France and Poland have backed a proposal by the European Commission and Ursula von der Leyen to use the proceeds of frozen Russian assets to buy weapons for Ukraine.

The amount of money in question is about three billion dollars. Malta, Luxembourg, and Hungary have already opposed this proposal.

At a joint press conference, the French president, German chancellor and Polish prime minister said they would develop a partnership to produce weapons for Ukraine.

"Within the Ramstein group, we are going to create a coalition to purchase long-range missiles and artillery,"

Olaf Scholz said.

However, the German Chancellor continues to resist sending Taurus missiles to Ukraine. The German media outlet t-online reported that the effective use of this missile requires a considerable amount of data and a special computer system that only the Bundeswehr has. Germany cannot transfer this system to Ukraine because it would undermine its defence capabilities.

Emmanuel Macron noted that the fate of stability and peace in the whole of Europe is being decided in Ukraine.

"This determination is unwavering and involves our unity," the French President added.

The three leaders also agreed on the need to strengthen support for Moldova, which Russia says is trying to destabilise it through a "hybrid war".
