We know about almost 260 Ukrainians in the Gaza Strip — Zelenskyy
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy says that almost 260 Ukrainians are currently in the Gaza Strip. The exit from Gaza is currently blocked.
Zelenskyy said this in his evening video speech to the nation.
The President emphasised that Ukrainian diplomats are ready to help every citizen who needs it.
"Once again, I appeal to all Ukrainians who may need help: contact the diplomatic missions of Ukraine at any time and in any way and follow their recommendations," Zelenskyy said.
It will be recalled that on October 14, Ukraine's Ambassador to Israel, Yevhen Korniichuk, sent an official note of protest to Israel over the withdrawal of permission to evacuate foreign citizens from the Gaza Strip.
The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, said that on October 14, the Israeli Foreign Ministry withdrew the evacuation permit two hours before the scheduled opening of the corridor through the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that the Rafah crossing would be opened.
On the evening of October 14, the first evacuation flight to Bucharest with 207 Ukrainian citizens was sent from Israeli Tel Aviv.
