Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Klaus Iohannis sign a statement on strategic partnership between Ukraine and Romania

The Presidents of Ukraine and Romania have signed a statement on a long-term strategic partnership between the countries.

They announced this at the joint press conference in Bucharest.

"Romania will support Ukraine until it wins the war and liberates all its territories, as well as rebuilds the country," Iohannis said.

The Romanian president also says that he will support the decision to open negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union in December this year. He emphasises that Ukraine should continue to implement reforms on its way to EU membership.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy says that Romania will train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 aircraft. For this purpose, Romania country will set up a training center for pilots. Also, both countries will develop a mechanism to speed up the training of Ukrainian pilots.

The President of Ukraine says that a grain corridor from Ukraine to Romanian ports will open soon, and will go through Moldova. The two countries also agreed to double the transit capacity through Romanian ports to 4 million tons of Ukrainian agricultural products.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy was supposed to speak in the Romanian Parliament, but his speech was canceled due to "parliamentarians with pro-Russian sympathies." He will meet with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu in the evening. The Romanian office of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports this.
