Vilnius University terminates contract with Russian professor for denying occupation of Baltic states

Vilnius University has cancelled an agreement with a professor from Russia who denied the occupation of the Baltic States in his scientific works.

This was reported by the Lithuanian public broadcaster.

Andrei Desnitsky had been working as a professor at Vilnius University since October 2022. Before that, he had lived in Moscow.

In his academic articles, Desnitsky denied the occupation of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia by the Soviet Union. In his opinion, Stalin allegedly "did not occupy these countries, but only persistently demanded that they join the Soviet Union".

He also advocated the occupation of Qirim by Russia.
