Verkhovna Rada recognised the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria as temporarily occupied by Russia

"By committing terror, intimidation and violence, Russia has taken hostage the entire Chechen people, which resulted in the establishment of the Moscow-controlled administration," - the explanatory note reads.

The deputies note that the adoption of the resolution is the basis for recognition of the Chechen people's desire for independence.
