Venezuelan President Maduro signs six decrees on measures in defence of Essequibo, located in independent Guyana
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has signed six decrees on the accession of the Essequibo region.
The Venezuelan media outlet Últimas Noticias reports.
The Venezuelan leader also approved a new map of the country, including Essequibo, and appointed Rodríguez Cabello as the sole authority for Guayana Esequiba with a political and administrative headquarters in Tumeremo.
Maduro also called on the Venezuelan people to condemn right-wing groups that allegedly sided with Guyana against national interests.
It will be recalled that on December 3, Venezuela annexed Essequibo, an oil-rich part of Guyana.
Nicolás Maduro ordered the creation of branches of the state-owned oil and gas company PDVSA and the metallurgical conglomerate CVG in the region.
