Venezuela and Guyana agree to avoid the use of force against each other

The leaders of Venezuela and Guyana have agreed that the countries will not use force against each other.

Presidents Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela and Irfaan Ali of Guyana have agreed to set up a joint commission to resolve the issue of the Essequibo region of Guyana.
The commission will include the foreign ministers of Venezuela and Guyana and technical staff from both countries. The leaders agreed to meet again in Brazil in the coming months.
