Vasyl Lozynskyi, former Deputy Minister of Community, Territories, and Infrastructure Development, is in custody according to the decision of the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court
He will be able to leave the pre-trial detention center if he posts bail of ₴50 million.
High Anti-Corruption Countr (HACC) reports about it.
It will be recalled that on January 21, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau detained Lozynskyi for taking a bribe. According to the investigation, he facilitated the purchase of equipment at inflated prices.
In the summer, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated ₴1.6 billion to purchase equipment to provide alternative sources of light, heat, and water supply.
Law enforcement officials believe that a group of civil servants decided to embezzle part of the funds. They colluded with suppliers to inflate the prices of equipment by ₴280 million.
On January 24-25, the first instance of the HACC heard 5 cases on the selection of preventive measures for those involved in the scheme. The court sent the three entrepreneurs to a pre-trial detention facility with the possibility of bail. The fourth defendant was obliged to post bail and not leave the Kyiv region. Lozynskyi was placed under house arrest.
The prosecution filed an appeal against the decision regarding Lozynskyi and won the case at the appeals court.
