Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs called on Pope Francis not to persuade Ukraine to "negotiate"

Vatican City (Svidomi) — Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba called on Pope Francis to support Ukraine and not to persuade it to "negotiate".

"Our flag is a yellow and blue one. This is the flag by which we live, die and prevail. We shall never raise any other flags," Dmytro Kuleba wrote on his Instagram.

Previously, Pope Francis has said in an interview with the Swedish newspaper RSI that Ukraine should have what he called the courage of the "white flag" and negotiate an end to the war with Russia.

Matteo Bruni, director of the Vatican press office, clarified that the Pope used the symbol of the white flag to mean an end to hostility, a truce achieved through the courage to start negotiations. He did not mean surrender.

"The strongest is the one, who in the battle between good and evil, stands on the side of good rather than attempting to put them on the same footing and call it "negotiations", wrote the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs and called on Pope Francis to pay an Apostolic visit to Ukraine.

The Primate of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Sviatoslav Shevchuk, said: "Ukraine is wounded but unconquered! No one even thinks of surrendering, even in the places where fighting is taking place today."
