Ukrainian government allocates more than $466 million for defence lines

Kyiv, Ukraine (Svidomi) — The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated a record 17.5 billion hryvnias (about $466 million) to construct defence lines.
In 2023, neither Russia nor Ukraine made any significant progress on the frontline despite the ongoing hostilities.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said the funds would be used to build engineering and fortification structures, equipment and a system of non-explosive barriers.

The funds will be allocated to specialised defence agencies and local administrations.
In early December, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with the Associated Press that the war with Russia had moved to a new stage.
He said that Ukraine did not receive all the necessary weapons from its allies, and the limited number of soldiers did not allow it to launch an offensive quickly.
