Ukraine's Minister for Veterans Affairs, Yulia Laputina, submits her resignation

Kyiv, Ukraine (Svidomi) — The Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, Yulia Laputina, has submitted her letter of resignation, according to the head of the Ukrainian parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk.

The Verkhovna Rada is to vote on Laputina's resignation. Ruslan Stefanchuk said that the letter would be considered at the parliament's next plenary session. Due to the imposed martial law in Ukraine, the dates of plenary sessions are not publicly announced in advance.

Yulia Laputina has been the Minister for Veterans Affairs since 2020.

The Public Council at the Ministry for Veterans demanded the resignation of the Minister due to her ineffective work.

"Yulia Laputina has failed in the area of work with veterans. Her management is not effective and, on the contrary, harms veterans and families. The institution is almost destroyed. Veterans do not trust their ministry. Everyone is fighting for them except the minister in charge," said Bohdana Levytska, a member of the Board of the Public Council at the Ministry of Veterans and wife of a military man, during a press conference.

It will be recalled that in September, the Ukrainian Minister of Defence, Oleksii Reznikov, resigned. Under his leadership, the ministry was involved in a number of corruption scandals. Currently, Rustem Umierov is the Minister of Defence.
