Ukraine joins EU sanctions against Iran
Ukraine has joined the European Union's sanctions against Iran for supporting Russia in the war.
This is stated on the website of the European Council.
In addition to Ukraine, other EU candidate countries have also joined the sanctions: North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The sanctions were also supported by Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, and members of the European Economic Area.
On July 20, the European Union imposed sanctions on Iran. The new restrictions include a ban on exports from the European Union to Iran of components that could be used in the production of drones.
There are also travel restrictions and measures to freeze the assets of people who support or participate in Iran's drone programme.
In addition, six Iranian citizens who supported the Syrian regime and the Russian invasion of Ukraine were added to the sanctions list. They are now banned from entering and travelling within the EU. Their assets will also be frozen.
