UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly: Ukraine's planned counter-offensive will not be a decisive breakthrough

According to the British Foreign Secretary, Ukraine's planned counteroffensive will not be a decisive breakthrough in the war against Russia.

James Cleverly said this during a joint press conference with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

"Ukraine has demonstrated tremendous courage and resistance since the beginning of Russia's invasion, but people should not expect the counteroffensive to be like a movie," said Cleverly.

He also adds that the UK is ready for China to play a more constructive role in ending the war.

"We know that Xi Jinping has a significant degree of influence over Putin. If his intervention can help restore Ukraine's sovereignty and withdraw Russian troops from that country, I will not criticize it," he said.
