Türkiye has agreed to submit the protocol on Sweden's accession to NATO for ratification as soon as possible.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced this at a press conference in Lithuania. 

"I will not give you exact dates for that. But this is a clear committment, and the [Turkish] President has made it clear that it will happen as soon as possible," Stoltenberg said.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that before Türkiye allows Sweden to join NATO, the European Union must provide the country with a path to join the bloc.
