The water level in the Kakhovka reservoir reaches 12.5 metres

As of the evening of June 8, the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir reached 12.5 metres, which does not allow water intake for Zaporizhzhia NPP.

Ihor Syrota, Head of Hydroenergo, announced this on the telethon.

To draw water for the settlements and for the Zaporizhzhia NPP, the water level needs to be 12.7 metres.

The reservoir water level can drop for another seven to eight days and stop at around three metres.

Ihor Syrota suggests that the reservoir will decrease in width from 3.5 kilometres to 1-1.2 kilometres, meaning it will return to the Dnipro riverbed.

It will be recalled that on June 6, Energoatom reported that ZNPP reactors were cooled from a pond that is not connected to the Kakhovka reservoir.
