The US state of Maine disqualifies Donald Trump from participating in next year's presidential election

The state of Maine in the United States has banned former President Donald Trump from participating in the 2024 primaries.
Reuters reports.
Like Colorado, Maine followed the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution, prohibiting those involved in a coup from running for office.
Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows concluded that Republican presidential candidate Trump incited his supporters to riot at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
"The US Constitution does not tolerate an assault on the foundations of our government," Bellows said in the ruling.
As the decision could be appealed to the State's Superior Court, the Secretary of State suspended her ruling until the court's final decision.
Trump's team said they would file an appeal against the ruling. His lawyers deny Trump's involvement in the attack on the Capitol and demand that Trump's disqualification from the primaries be cancelled.
It will be recalled that the Colorado Supreme Court has banned Donald Trump from participating in the state primaries (elections) in March 2024.
Svidomi has already explained the impact of this. At the same time, the Supreme Court of Michigan allowed Trump to run for the US presidency.
