The US imposes new economic sanctions against Russia
The United States has expanded the list of sanctions against Russian individuals and legal entities.
This is stated on the website of the US Treasury Department.
The list includes 18 people, 95 companies and 14 vessels.
The individuals on the sanctions list include:
- Aleksey Kudrin, corporate development adviser at Yandex;
- Pavel Marinichev, CEO of the diamond mining company Alrosa;
- Deputy Ministers of Economy Ilya Torosov and Aleksey Khersontsev;
- Deputy Energy Ministers Pavel Snikkars and Pavel Sorokin;
- Deputy Minister of Finance Leonid Gornin;
- First Deputy Director of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation Sergey Korolev;
- Governor of the Smolensk region Vasily Anokhin.
The sanctions were also imposed on Russian Valery Chekalov and North Korean citizen Yong Hyok Rim, associated with the head of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, and helping to supply mercenaries with ammunition to Ukraine.
The sanctions also targeted Tinkoff, Yunistrim, Solidarnost, Loko Bank and St. Petersburg Social Commercial Bank, as well as several research organisations and production centres, such as the Kazan and Tambov gunpowder plants.
