The US Department of State says it sees "viable routes" for Ukrainian grain exports, so it is seeking to return to "pre-war levels".

This was stated by James O'Brien, the head of the Office of Sanctions Coordination at the US Department of State, in an interview with Reuters.

"I think we see there are viable routes through Ukraine's territorial waters and overland," James O'Brien said.

He also added that the US State Department aims to return Ukraine's exports to pre-war averages over the next few months.

Ukraine used to ship millions of metric tonnes of food from the Black Sea ports of Odesa and Mykolaiv, but the country has had to rely on the Danube ports since Russia withdrew from the grain deal last month.

It will be reminded that Latvia may use its railway to transport Ukrainian grain.
