The US announces a new package of sanctions against Russia

The US Department of the Treasury has announced a new package of sanctions against Russian individuals and legal entities.
This was reported by the press service of the US Treasury Department.
This time, the list includes oligarch Andrei Bokarev and his wife Olga Syrovatskaya. Bokarev is the president of Transmash and owns or serves on the board of other Russia-based rail-related manufacturing firms. Bokarev is also a board member of the U.S.-designated Russian Association of Employers the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. He has personal ties to Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu. In 2022, Russian officials engaged Transmash to produce parts for infantry combat vehicles.
Restrictions also apply to Bokaryev's business partner Iskandar Makhmudov and his son. Makhmudov, who founded and owned U.S.-designated Joint Stock Company Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company, owns or sits on the board of other Russia-based metals and mining companies and owns several Russia-based financial services entities.
The restrictions apply to the Soyuz defence enterprise, which is engaged in the Russian military aerospace industry, including the production of engines for cruise missiles and military transport aircraft, and the Balashikha casting and mechanical plant, which is engaged in the manufacture, development, production, testing, and repair of aviation equipment.
In addition, the restrictions apply to the chief designer of Soyuz and his relatives, who are members of the company's board of directors.
Other financial institutions and suppliers of technology to the Russian army are also subject to restrictions.
