The United States adopts Justice for Victims of War Crimes Act — Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine
According to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin, the Justice for Victims of War Crimes Act will bring to justice all those who committed war crimes against the Ukrainian people. It also corrects gaps in American legislation.
S. 4240 allows war criminals to be prosecuted in the United States regardless of where the crime was committed and extends the statute of limitations for war crimes discovered years after they were committed. Also, by making appropriate changes to the legislation, it is now possible to bring to justice citizens of other states, previously exclusively US citizens.
