The United States accuses South Africa of transferring weapons and ammunition to Russia for the war with Ukraine

During a briefing, US Ambassador to South Africa Reuben Brigety said that the United States was confident that South Africa, despite its non-aligned public position on Russia's invasion of Ukraine, has been supplying weapons to the Russian army. He was quoted by 'News24'.

The ambassador claims that the ammunition was loaded onto a Russian ship that docked in Simon's Town in December.

"The arming of the Russians is extremely serious, and we do not consider this issue to be resolved, and we would like SA to [start] practising its non-alignment policy," Brigety said.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa told lawmakers, "The matter is being looked into, and in time we will be able to speak about it".
