The UN voted to appoint a human rights investigator for the Russian Federation

This is the first case of an investigator being appointed to study the situation in a country that is a permanent member of the Security Council.

17 members of the Council voted for the decision, 6 voted against it, and 24 abstained. China, Venezuela, Cuba, Eritrea, Bolivia, and Kazakhstan voted against it.
