The Ukrainian Defence Forces destroyed a secret Russian base in the temporarily occupied Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia region

This was reported by Suspilne, citing sources in the SSU and Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov.

The base was located near an engine plant. The commander of the 58th Army and the chief of staff were injured, and several dozen officers were killed.

"The headquarters was located on the territory of the motor plant, in the southern part of the city, where the Russians were amassing military equipment and weapons on the territory of two industrial enterprises, but it was the headquarters where the Russians were located that was eliminated," Fedorov said on the national TV marathon.

He also told about the explosions at the Russian army ammunition depots in the Vasylivka district and the Russian base in the Pryshyb area.
