The Parliament of Iceland recognises the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people — the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland, Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir

"In November, I visited the Holodomor Memorial in Kyiv. It was a reminder of a terrible crime. Today, the Alþingi (Icelandic Parliament - ed.) has recognised the artificial famine of the winter of 1932-1933 as genocide committed by the totalitarian government of Moscow against the people of Ukraine," the minister wrote.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Iceland for recognising the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people and for honouring the memory of millions of Ukrainians killed by the Moscow regime.

"This is a clear signal: such crimes do not go unpunished. And they have no statute of limitations," Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote.
