The Government of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in exile recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people

The statement also notes that "it is important to call historical events by their proper names". 

The government of Ichkeria also states that it understands the current struggle of Ukrainians, because the peoples of both countries have "the same goals and a common enemy".

In the published message, the Government of Ichkeria also expresses gratitude to Ukraine for recognizing the country as temporarily occupied by Russia and condemning the genocide of the Chechen people.
