The first "underground school" to be built in Kharkiv, 30 km from Russia

The first 'underground school' is being built in Kharkiv, 30 km from the Russian border. About 900 children will be able to study in the school. The premises will be safe even during a missile threat.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reports.
"The construction is proceeding according to schedule, despite the enemy shelling of the city, frost and bad weather," Terekhov said.
"Concrete structures have been installed, and work is underway on hydro and thermal insulation. Children will likely be able to study at this school in March 2024. Another such school will be built in another part of the city.
Kharkiv is under constant Russian rocket and artillery fire. Since 1 September 2023, the city's students have been attending classes in equipped classrooms at metro stations. As of 23 November, 1,860 children were enrolled in the so-called "metro school".
It will be recalled that on the night of 10 January, the Russian military attacked 17 settlements in the Kharkiv and Kupiansk districts. The Russians fired two S-300 missiles at Kharkiv. A children's medical centre was damaged.
