State Bureau of Investigation completes investigation into helicopter crash in Brovary that killed Interior Ministry officials

Investigators have completed the investigation into the helicopter crash in Brovary, where senior officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine died in January 2023.

The press service of the State Bureau of Investigation reports.

Suspicion was served on

  • head of the State Search and Rescue Aviation Service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine;
  • acting commander of a special aircraft unit;
  • deputy commander for flight training; the commander of the aircraft squadron;
  • Head of the Flight Security Service of the Special Aviation Unit;
  • and Operational Rescue Service of the Civil Protection Service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine based in the city of Nizhyn, Chernihiv region.

The SES officials are suspected of violating the rules of air traffic safety and operation of air transport.

"SBI investigators have reconstructed the day of the crash minute by minute, including including deciphering the 'black boxes'," the statement reads.

Foreign experts were also involved in the investigation, including representatives of the French helicopter manufacturer.

It will be recalled that on January 18, 2023, a helicopter crashed in Brovary, carrying, among others, the Minister of Internal Affairs Denys Monstyrskyi and his deputy Yevhen Yenin. A total of 14 people died, including one child.
