Slovakia recognises the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide against the Ukrainian people
On June 20, the Slovak Parliament recognised the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide against the Ukrainian people. "84 out of 108 parliamentarians voted in favour, 23 abstained, and 1 voted against.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the Slovak Parliament for recognising the Holodomor as genocide against the Ukrainian people.
"A timely decision, a significant contribution to the restoration of historical justice and the commemoration of millions of innocent victims," the President of Ukraine wrote.
Also, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, noted that "This act of historical justice serves as a vivid reminder of our responsibility to ensure that the perpetrators do not act with impunity."
