Russians sometimes deliberately take out Ukrainian prisoners allegedly for exchange, and then return them to the colony and assure that Ukraine refused to exchange them — representative of the Ukrainian ombudsman

"We consider it as a kind of torture. Ukraine has not refused to exchange a single person offered by the Russian side," the representative of the Ombudsman stressed. 

At the same time, he notes that the conditions of detention of Ukrainian combatants in captivity have recently improved as Ukraine raises the issue of prisoners' treatment at the international level.
