Russians redeploy Bal coastal missile battery division to the border with Ukraine

The Russians have moved the system designed to destroy ships to the Bryansk region. They plan to use it to launch missile strikes against Ukraine.

The National Resistance Centre of Ukraine reported this.

The Bal coastal missile battery can launch Kh-35/Kh-35U missiles at ships. According to the National Resistance Centre, these missiles were upgraded in 2021. They now have a range of 500 kilometres.

A division of these anti-ship systems used to be stationed in the Krasnodar Krai, which has access to the Black Sea. Now they are based closer to the border with Ukraine. The 500-kilometre range theoretically allows for strikes from Bryansk at the Sumy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Poltava, and Kharkiv regions.

In 2022, Russians already launched these missiles at Mykolaiv from temporarily occupied Crimea, using the Bal coastal missile battery.
