Russian troops deploy military equipment, weapons and explosives in the turbine department of ZNPP Unit 4 - IAEA
Russian troops have deployed military equipment, weapons and explosives in the turbine department of ZNPP Unit 4
This was recorded by the IAEA representatives, the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate reports.
The agency learns from unofficial sources that the Russians are also storing weapons, explosives and equipment in other areas of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, including repair and mechanical workshops and the roofs of power units.
"Irrational decisions and actions of the Russian military endanger both the personnel of the nuclear plant and the residents of nearby settlements. We reiterate that in the event of an emergency situation at the ZNPP with a potentially possible release of radioactive substances into the environment, the consequences will be felt not only by Ukraine, but they will have a cross-border nature," the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine said.
Russian troops occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP in March 2022.
At the end of July 2022, the Russians deployed heavy military equipment with ammunition, as well as weapons and explosives, in the engine department of ZNPP Unit 1.
In early August 2022, it became known that military equipment had also been deployed in the engine department of ZNPP Unit 2.
