Russian shelling of Ukrainian cities leaves six dead and over 75 injured, including children aged 10, 11 and 16
On the night of November 2, 2024, the enemy attacked with an X-31P guided missile and 71 Shahed-type combat drones. As of 11.00 a.m., 39 enemy UAVs were confirmed to have been downed in the Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Sumy, Khmelnytskyi, and Poltava regions. Twenty-one drones lost radar contact and 5 UAVs returned to the Russian territory.
In the Kherson region, south of Ukraine, partially occupied since 2022, Kherson, Beryslav, Mykilske, Tomyna Balka, Stanislav, Shyroka Balka, Tiahynka, Tomaryne, Kachkarivka, Bilozerka, Havrylivka, Komyshany, Antonivka, Prydniprovske and Lvove came under Russian shelling and rocket attacks. The shelling of Zelenivka killed one woman and injured 4 other civilians, including children aged 10, 11 and 16. A further 8 civilians were injured in other settlements in the area. The Russian military hit an educational and medical institution, a factory, a railway company, a car service station, multi-storey and private houses, gas pipelines, an outbuilding, construction equipment and private cars.
In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, the Russians attacked Kharkiv, Kupiansk, Slatyne, Odnorobivka, Kozacha Lopan and Vilkhuvatka. The shelling of Kharkiv killed one policeman and injured 50 civilians. A further 6 civilians were injured in other settlements in the region. Private houses, outbuildings and vehicles were damaged.
In the Donetsk region, partially occupied since 2014 and located on the frontline in the east of Ukraine, the Russian military shelled Kostiantynivka, Lyman, Chasiv Yar, Viroliubivka, Novotroiitske, Oleksiivka, Sukhi Yaly and Yuriyivka. Four civilians died and four others were wounded in the shelling. Private houses, an industrial plant, a farm, educational institutions, a lock-up and vehicles were damaged or destroyed.
In the Odesa region, south of Ukraine, two rescue workers were injured by Russian shelling as they descended to a shelter. Fire engines and a fire station were damaged.
In the Kyiv region, bordering Belarus to the north, one woman was injured as a result of falling debris from enemy targets in Kyiv, the capital. By midday, 8 private houses, one apartment in a multi-storey building, two outbuildings and power lines had been reported damaged in four districts of the region. As of now, 1,860 residents of one of the settlements have no electricity.
In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, Russia attacked the communities of Sumy, Khotin, Esman, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Sloboda, and Seredyna-Buda with anti-aircraft guns, mortars, UAVs and artillery. A UAV attack on Sumy resulted in injuries and damage to a multi-storey residential building and cars.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, south-central Ukraine, the Russians shelled Nikopol and the communities of Myrove, Pokrovsk and Marhanets overnight with artillery, MLRS and UAVs. One private house, an outbuilding and a power line were damaged. No casualties were reported.
In the Zaporizhzhia region, partially occupied in the south since 2022, the Russians shelled Lobkove, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Novodarivka, Malynivka, Orikhove and Preobrazhenka with UAVs, aircraft, MLRS and artillery. There were 32 reports of residential buildings and infrastructure being destroyed. No casualties were reported.
In the Khmelnytskyi region, west of Ukraine, the fall of UAV debris caused minor damage to a cereal-handling elevator. No casualties were reported.
In the Luhansk region, almost entirely occupied by Russia, the Russian Army shelled Makiivka and Balka Zhuravka with artillery and UAVs. No casualties or damage were reported.
