Russian militaries tear up Ukrainian passports of temporarily occupied Tokmak residents

This happens while passing through checkpoints — Ivan Fedоrov, mayor of the neighbouring city of Melitopol.

Tokmak is a city in the Zaporizhzhia region. Before the full-scale invasion, it was home to about 30,000 people. The Russians occupied it in early March 2022.

Currently, the front line is 25 kilometres from Tokmak, but there is active fighting in this area.

There are Russian checkpoints inside the temporarily occupied city. The Russians demand that Tokmak residents show their documents when passing through them. When they see Ukrainian passports, the Russian militaries tear them up.
