Russian hackers launch cyberattacks on Swiss state websites twice in one week

Russians launched cyber attacks on Swiss governmental websites after the parliament of Switzerland had decided to broadcast a speech by Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The country's parliament and the National Cyber Security Centre reported the attacks.

On June 5, the Swiss parliament announced that on June 15, Volodymyr Zelenskyy would make a speech at the joint session of the two houses of parliament.

On June 7, hackers attacked the website of the Swiss parliament for the first time. The Russian hacker group NoName057(16) claimed responsibility for the attack.

This Russian hacker group emerged after the start of the full-scale invasion. According to the CyberPeace Institute, the group carried out about 700 attacks against European public and private websites in a year. In May 2023, it attacked the websites of the Swiss railway.

On June 12, the same group again attacked Swiss government websites.

Earlier, on June 1, the lower house of the Swiss parliament, the National Council, did not support amendments to the law that would allow the re-export of Swiss weapons to Ukraine. At the same time, parliamentarians are looking for other ways to support Ukraine with weapons.
