Russian court reconsidered the acquittal of political prisoner Ernes Ametov in the case of Hizb ut-Tahrir and imprisoned him for 11 years

Prosecutors accuse Ametov of alleged "participation in a terrorist organisation" and "attempted coup d'etat in Crimea". He was first arrested in 2017 and spent three years of investigations and trials in pre-trial detention centres in the temporarily occupied Crimea and Rostov.
In 2020, he was acquitted and released due to a lack of evidence. It was the first such case in the "Hizb ut-Tahrir cases". However, in March 2022, the Court of Appeal reviewed the decision of the Southern District Military Court and sent the case for a new trial.
