Russian, Chinese, and Iranian propaganda sees an increase in the number of Twitter followers
This happened after the social network changed its policy on government media: previously, Twitter limited its distribution, but now it can promote them.
This is evidenced by the Digital Forensic Research Lab study.
It will be recalled that on April 8, Svidomi reported that restrictions had been lifted on Russian government accounts and asked Twitter for a comment, but the social network did not respond.
The policy was probably changed on March 29. After that, the number of followers of Russian propaganda outlet RT, Chinese CGTN, and Iranian PressTV began to grow.
Within a month, several accounts associated with RT managed to regain the number of followers they had lost over the previous 3 months.
The number of interactions with the posts of these accounts also increased.
The same happened with Chinese and Iranian propaganda.
